Girls Surf and Yoga Week: October 2017

We recently hosted a Girls Surf and Yoga week with three lovely ladies from the United States and Germany. After a week of bonding over sunrise yoga, surf lessons, volunteering with the local animals, late night dinner chats and so much more - we didn't want it to end!

We snapped loads of pictures along the way so we could give you a preview of all the girl power that flooded Azrac this past week...

​We started every morning with a sunrise slow flow on the rooftop of the Riad. Our yoga teacher, Maura, included class theme's on women's empowerment, goal setting, self love and more. Crystals and energy cleansing with Palo Santo, included!

After breakfast by the pool, the girls jumped in the car with Morad and drove along the coast to find the best spot for their day of surf lessons. Being a group of beginners, Morad taught them all the basics on the sand before towing their boards out to the waves for some fun...

After their first few days of fun in the ocean, they traded the sand and surf for hiking shoes, leaving the familiar coast of Tamraght.

They journeyed off into the anti-Atlas mountains for a trip to Paradise Valley - a breathtaking oasis in the foothills of the mountains with crystal clear blue water and palm trees as far as the eye can see.

It was an active day of hiking, exploring and swimming in the fresh mountain pools, and the girls enjoyed the adventure of visiting this local gem.

Included in the girls week we offered an afternoon henna session on the rooftop. Everyone brought photos and collaborated on designs with the local henna artist. 

​After hanging around with the local beach dogs for a week, two of our guests, Tiffany and Alma, decided to give up an afternoon of surfing to volunteer with our friends over at Morocco Animal Aid. They helped take some local animals to the vet to get their vaccinations, gave a bath to one of the recovering puppies and walked Lucy's pack of foster dogs around the neighbourhood.

Late night dinner courtesy of Fatima's cooking skills! We hung out every evening on the candlelit rooftop chatting all things surf, yoga, travel, culture and more!

​For their final dose of Moroccan colour and culture, we ventured to the weekly Souk in Aourir Village for some last minute shopping before their afternoon flight. The girls learned how to barter like a local with the help of Sophie's Arabic lessons. The score? Local handmade jewellery and colourful Moroccan rugs to take home!
