8 women, 5 nationalities and an awesome lust for adventure - what an amazing week we had on our second Women's Surf and Yoga Retreat! Read on to see more of our retreat adventures... Shopping - Moroccan style...We dived straight into the vibrant Moroccan culture with the best way to experience a country's culture - FOOD! We spent our first morning together wandering the colourful Aourir Souk, sampling the best tastes, sounds, smells and colours around, and stocking up with plenty of fresh and flavourful produce for our Tagine Masterclass! Moroccan chefs in the making! After a morning of successful haggling, our retreat ladies enjoyed a well-deserved lunch on the Riad rooftop, catching some rays whilst Sophie & Fatima set up the Azrac Kitchen to welcome our eager Moroccan-chefs-in-the-making! Our wonderful Moroccan chef, Fatima, talked us through all the colourful ingredients, herbs and spices that make her tagines so tasty, along with the all important cooking steps, before the girls got stuck in with peeling, chopping and cooking up a storm! This was the end result (and it was DE-LI-CIOUS!): Surf - Chill - Explore - RepeatThe rest of the week was spent surfing, chilling at the beach, and riding camels #wheninMorocco For most of the ladies who joined us, it was their first ever time surfing. Our days started with a drive along the coast to check the waves, before setting up at the beach and organising our surf chicks into small groups depending on their surf level. After a super surf warm-up to get the mind and body ready for the ocean, our surf instructors Morad and Ismail guided them through the basics on the beach before hitting the waves. Afternoons were spent fine-tuning those newly acquired surf skills, basking in the sunshine and exploring the quirky streets on Tamraght and Taghazout. Off the beaten trackAfter a few days of surfing, we headed to Paradise Valley for a mini Mountain adventure. A 45 minute drive through the anti-Atlas mountains brought us to this tranquil, palm tree paradise! We chilled under the Moroccan sun, swam in the freshwater rock pools and watched as the courageous locals jumped from the rocks, meters above us! On our way to the Valley, we stopped off at one of our favourite spots - a local cooperative and organic garden in the beautiful village of Alma. The girls got to see and learn all about the amazing local produce, including the world-famous Argan Oil and the amazing Argan Trees that are unique to this area of Morocco. Following our scent-filled tour of the organic gardens, we got to try some of the amazing locally produced honeys, oils and beauty products. Henna art, Sunrise Yoga - and more food!During our adventure packed week, we also managed to squeeze in some morning yoga sessions on the Riad rooftop with our wonderful teacher, Sarah. There's no better way to start your day than stretching your body, the sun beaming down, breathing in the ocean air - all with a beautiful view of the sleepy village below. More Moroccan highlights from our retreat included our afternoon with our local Henna artist, who created some beautiful designs, and of course all the amazing meals made by Fatima, as always, with lots of yummy stuff and plenty of love!
